Symbols of Mappadendang Ritual in Sidenreng Rappang Regency

This research aimed to figure out the Symbols and Process of Mappadendang Ritual in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The researcher based on Revsina's theory about the kinds of symbols. This research applied descriptive qualitative method in revealing the data. This researcher used observation and interview sheet as. the instruments to get the valid data. This research revealed that there were six symbols of Mappadendang ritual in Sidenreng Rappang Regency. The researcher perceived that there were two symbols in object were Alu and Palungeng, the symbols in Characters were two namely Beppa Ogi' and Pesse' Pelleng, the symbols in Action were two namely Gerakan Mattumbu' and Gerakan Mappenca' silat. The researcher also found that the process of Mappadendang ritual conducted two days, the first activity was preparing the location that is going to use for ritual, hang mortar, slaughter animals, and make traditional cakes then the next day was preparing the meals, mabbarasanji, maccera' palungeng, tudang sipulung, and doing performance of Mappadendang ritual
