POETICS OF THE UNDERWORLD

This Bachelor’s thesis provides a new view on the poem The Divine Comedy written by Italian poet Dante Alighieri by analyzing it through the framework of Maurice Blanchot’s literary essay The Gaze of Orpheus based on the Greek myth Orpheus and Eurydice. This thesis asks the questions of what is nature, function and purpose of the poet and of poetry in the Greek and Christian underworld by looking for similarities and differences between Dante’s and Orpheus’s journey through their respective underworld and what that means for their artistic creation.Ovaj završni rad daje novi pogled na Božanstvenu Komediju, epski spjev koji je napisao Dante Alighieri, analizirajućije je u okviru literarnog eseja Mauricea Blanchota Orfejev pogled koji je temeljen na grčkom mitu Orfej i Euridika. Ovaj završni rad postavlja pitanja o tome koja je priroda, funkcija i svrha pjesnika i poezije u grčkom i kršćanskom podzemlju tražeći sličnosti i razlike između Danteovog i Orfejevog putovanja u njihova podzemlja, te što to znači za njihovo umjetničko stvaralaštvo
