Supercontinuum generation in a nonlinear optical fiber

U ovom diplomskom radu proučeno je stvaranje spektralnog superkontinuuma propagacijom femtosekundnih laserskih pulseva u nelinearnom optičkom vlaknu. Kao izvori svjetlosti korišteni su Er:dopirani femtosekundni fiber laser u Laboratoriju za hladne atome i Ti:Safir femtosekundni laser u Laboratoriju za femtosekundnu spektroskopiju Instituta za fiziku. Izmjereno je vremensko trajanje i spektar pulseva te je proučeno stvaranje spektralnog superkontinuuma u ovisnosti o ulaznim parametrima pulsa. Osim eksperimentalnih mjerenja, proučena je teorijska pozadina stvaranja superkontinuuma dana generaliziranom nelinearnom Schrodingerovom jednadžbom. Napravljene su numeričke simulacije vremenske i spektralne evolucije pulsa. Spektralni superkontinuum dobiven u ovom diplomskom radu omogućava daljnji rad na stvaranju još širih spektralnih superkontinuuma s ciljem karakterizacije frekventnog češlja Er:dopiranog femtosekundnog lasera korištenjem 2f-3f samoreferentne sheme.In this thesis, supercontinuum generation via propagation of femtosecond laser pulses in a nonlinear optical fiber was studied. An Er:doped femtosecond pulse fiber laser and a Ti:Sapphire femtosecond pulse laser were used as laser sources. Pulse length and spectrum was measured and the generation of spectral supercontinuum with regards to pulse parameters was studied. Aside from experimental measurements, the theoretical background of supercontinuum generation given by the generalised nonlinear Schrodinger equation was studied. Numerical simulations of the temporal and spectral evolution of the pulse were performed. Spectral supercontinuum generated in this thesis allows for futher work on creating even wider spectral supercontinuums with the goal of frequency comb characterization of the Er:doped femtosecond laser via 2f-3f self-referencing scheme
