Diese Arbeit untersucht die Anwendbarkeit phylogenetischer Methoden innerhalb der Familie der Characeae (Streptophyta) und der Gattung Fucus (Phaeophyceae). Für beide Gruppen, die für die EU-Wasserahmenrichtlinie als Bioindikatoren verwendet werden, wurden aktuell Probleme bei der Artabgrenzung beobachtet, welche durch vergleichende morphologische und phylogenetische Analysen geklärt werden sollten.
