Dental follicle progenitor cells (DFPCs) have been proposed as biological grafts for cell-based therapies for periodontitis. Nevertheless, it is speculated that delivery of DFPCs in bacterially colonized periodontal pockets may cause alterations in their functional and phenotypic profile. Aim of this study was to investigate the ability of DFPCs to sense and respond to P.gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (LPS). The results of this study provide new insights into understanding the physiological role of dental-derived progenitor cells in sites of periodontal infection
