Abstract

The aim of this thesis is the analysis of representations of things that make Great Britain multicultural. Given that in recent years multiculturalism is being seen as a threat to national survival, and that integration of migrants is seen as the right answer to the complex question of cultural difference, it is not surprising, as Sara Ahmed argues, that the focus of many representations is on loyalty to “what has already been established as a national ideal” (142).
