The main goal of this final paper was to demonstrate how common and widespread the phenomenon of semantic change is, and how it affects even the most basic words in our everyday usage, without us being aware of it. The goal was to be reached through an analysis of various etymological dictionaries that were searched in order to find examples of semantic change in English nouns denoting humans and animals.
