This paper presents a methodology specially developed for the estimation of voltage sag characteristics such as magnitude and frequency. The aim of this methodology is to evaluate sags monitoring results based on a stochastic assessment of long-term voltage sag indices. The measured sag indices are evaluated by means of two statistic tools, namely the confidence interval and analysis of variance based on hypothesis testing. A case study based on the evaluation of a six-month monitoring period shows the applicability of the proposed methodology
