Metabolic engineering, defined as the practice of manipulating cells\u27 genetic and regulatory processes for improving cellular performance, has been recently integrating systems and synthetic biology with other technologies, e.g. molecular biology, physiology, biochemistry, analysis science, bioinformatics and biochemical engineering.
