International audiencehis communication proposes a progressive approach for developing models of power drive and motors of electromechanical actuators used in aircraft flight controls. The physical effects to be modelled are listed and prioritized on basis engineering needs and following a model-based systems engineering process. A particular focus is put on energy losses that impact the thermal balance of the EMA and therefore its components’ sizing. Conduction and switching losses are considered for the power drive while copper and iron losses plus cogging torque are considered for the 3-phases motor.
