Drvenaste biljke nakon aktivne proljetno-ljetne faze, ulaze u stanje mirovanja ili dormancije. Da bi prevladale ovu fazu moraju zadovoljiti potrebe za hladnoćom i toplinom. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je odrediti glavne značajke peludnih sezona te odrediti baznu temperaturu za akumulaciju jedinica topline i jedinica hladnoće za porodicu Cupressaceae te rodove Quercus i Olea. Istraživanje je na splitskom području provedeno na temelju meteoroloških i aerobioloških podataka za razdoblje od 2005. do 2013. godine.
