The essay discusses the sociology of Theodor Adorno and Herbert Marcuse with particular attention to the role played by culture in the formation of a subjectivity model useful to capitalist economic system. The topic of the subjectivity and its cultural genesis is illustrated by highlighting the criticism of metaphisics and the interest in the immanence that leads the two authors to the formation of a sociological analysis. The essay emphasizes the relationship between a conformist model of subjectivity and the reality of unceasing economic reproduction of capital as well as of a firm political legitimacy of the market society.
