Il progetto internazionale è durato 6 anni a partire dal 2002 al 2008 con convegni tenuti annualmente a Las Vegas (USA), Salzau (Germania), Lecce (Italia), Debe (Polonia), Sofia (Bulgaria), San Pietroburgo (Russia). Il progetto ha lo scopo di fare incontrare, dibattere, e collaborare scienziati per realizzare collaborazioni di ricerca per orientare le scienze del landscape alla valutazione complessiva dei sistemi socio-ecologici. La valutazione del landscape è stata espressa in termini di sicurezza ambientale in relazione ai rischi associati ai beni ecosistemici ed all'erogazione dei servizi ecosistemici alla base della qualità della vita
