Józef Życzkowski’s concept of education through singing lessons in the school curriculum proved to be instrumental for the further development of both theory and praxis in the teaching of music in the second half of the 20th century. This conception was called methodology of singing instruction, and it was considered revolutionary for its time, referring to other international methods. It was characterised by great emphasis on cultivating the interest in music among students by singing, vocal and rhythmic exercises as well as musical auditions.
