In the following presentation, I would like to briefly draw attention to the selected mazurkas representative of the three composers: Fryderyk Chopin, Alexander Scriabin and Manuel de Falla. The choice of the afore mentioned composers was determined by the compositions that perfectly illustrate how folk music inspired composers and spread to the “elite” culture. The most distinctive example obviously is Fryderyk Chopin in whose work the mazurkas constitute a most important and significant chapter. What is more, the two other composers patterned oneself on Chopin.
