The author of the article analyses issues concerning the role of a book and reading during the Holocaust on the basis of chosen books dedicated to a young reader. According to the researcher, war experiences of little protagonists intersect with literary stories which help children to survive or become a metaphor of their fears, dreams and all things that are intangible. What is more, the book and its war reading are a symbol of a particular order which has been lost during the war and seems to be impossible to retrieve.
