This article is an attempt to present the coexisting elements of many cultures in the following cities of Dalmatia: Split, Zadar, and Dubrovnik. The problems of cultural richness are shown from a historical perspective as well as from that of the intercultural coexistence of local and foreign elements of cultural awareness. The historical and cultural complexity of the cities of Dalmatia justifies the claim that the cities are sites characterized by many strata of cultures, which have left behind diversified traces in cultural heritage. The cultural encounters have usually led to the enrichment of Croatian traditions, though they have also been accompanied by negative political phenomena.
