Dziecięce oswajanie świata : o poetyce tomiku wierszy Tadeusza Kubiaka

The paper discusses Wiersze na dzień dobry („Good Morning Poems”) by Tadeusz Kubiak, a book of poems intended for preschoolers. The discussion consists of three parts. First, the author notices poly‑functions of literature for children and its immanent features. Next, she briefly characterizes the poet’s texts for children, pointing at four topic‑genre circles. The first of then — lyrical poems on nature, the second — on children’s closest environment (a family home and school), the third — fairy tales in verse form and texts dominated by the category of fantasy, the fourth — poems about Warsaw and various regions of the country, teaching children to be patriotic. Against thus described background the author discusses poems from the book Wiersze na dzień dobry. She concentrates on the poetics and methods of addressing the child readers. She points to the poetic concepts and feature games, in which the poet reaches for children’s imaginary and conceptual structures as well as children folklore and games. The poet acquaints the children with the world by describing it adequately to the children’s imaginations and dreams. Moreover, he discretely teaches, since the didactic function is realized under the prefext of aesthetic and playful functions. The author of the article proved that in the discussed book of poems for children Tadeusz Kubiak takes advantage of various components, methods and techniques of depicting the world which had been tested in the 20th-century poetry for children. Consequently, they allow the evaluation of his poems as valuable poetry for children, regarding their function, poetics and receiving perspective
