Abstract

The author analyzes first accounts given by Poles after their trip to Japan, and pays attention to that fact that due to their disposition descriptions of particular places, objects and various aspects of Japanese culture were very different from one another. However, some of them in fact made faux pas, and their accounts revealed their disrespect toward another culture; whereas, others did not try to conceal their fascination with the country, rather, they made attempts to understand and give their account of Japan in most respectful ways. Therefore, the analyzed texts are of scholarly value owing to the fact that they stand as unique ways of viewing Japan from the perspective of first people who traveled that far
