In this paper the theoretical link between splines and kriging is presented. Spline interpolation is equivalent to kriging with fixed covariance and degree of polynomial trend. Kriging uses the results of the structural analysis for the interpolation. No preliminary structured analysis is performed by spline interpolation. We compare both methods by a case study
