Einige der häufigsten Augenerkrankungen wie beispielsweise Glaukom oder diabetische Retinopathie stehen mit Störungen der okulären Durchblutung in Verbindung. Es existiert allerdings bis heute keine Goldstandard Methode zur Quantifizierung der okulären Perfusion. Laser Speckle Flowgraphy (LSFG) stellt eine vielversprechende, nicht-invasive Technik zur Messung der Durchblutung am hinteren Augenpol dar, welche bis dato nur bei japanischen Probanden eingesetzt wurde.
