Add to ORKGHigh-rise buildings made their appearance in America and in Europe in the 19th century thanks to the progress of steelworkers and structural engineers. This type of constructions transformed over time, developing both by structural and stylistic point of view. In the following paper, the main structural systems of high-rise steel buildings are identified. Fifty Asiatic skyscrapers are considered with the aim to identify structural and architectural evolution of each type. Based on this analysis, an attempt for a new structural classification for high-rise steel buildings is made, trying to link this evolution to the main architectural advances occurred over time
