The paper describes the results coming from the automatic monitoring of the annual hydrological response of a deposit in loose pyroclastic soils located in a mountainous area of Cervinara, Campania Region. The collected field data, consisting in rainfall, soil moisture content and suction measurements, allow to estimate the soil water retention features, putting into evidence some hysteretic nature of the wetting/drying processes determined by the weather events
