Models of Knowledge of the Rural Environment: The National Park of Cilento.

The ecology of the landscape offers a wide range of analytical techniques applicable to cartographies of use and land cover to derive quantitative information on a variety of aspects of the spatial configuration of the mosaic landscape; among others, measures relating to the extension, shape, and level of spatial fragmentation of forest areas (or other categories of natural habitats and habitats) are considered useful to respond to information requirements typically formulated in the context of policies for biodiversity conservation. Analysis of landscape structure can also support the identification of geographical areas homogeneous landscape value to locate in the regional landscape plan, for which planning landscape quality objectives and requirements for the protection and land use. Attention to the mountainous landscape in Europe is of growing importance as bio-cultural and historical heritage. The Valle del Cilento (SA) is an example of these dynamics highlights several critical economic and social neglect by the local population has resulted in changes over time both territorial and social with a consequent loss of identity and the quality of the place. The objective of this research is to study the cultural heritage of the Valley of Cilento in order to preserve this biodiversity, promote and safeguard the territory. An analysis of historical characters, botanical and cultural landscape elements will be identified, signs of identity of the study area. In particular, the analysis and study of the iconographic sources descriptive and historical maps in different periods will be possible to identify the different land uses. This methodology allows to analyze and study the structure of the landscape. The study will identify guidelines for virtuous processes capable of generating local economic development
