La rosacea occupazionale

Introduction Rosacea is a vascular and inflammatory face’s disease that prefers phototypes I and II of 30 and 50 years old. It displays four evolutive stages (flushing, blushing, eruptive, granulomatous) and complications (ophthalmic, limphedema, hemicranias, folliculitis), producing aesthetic and/or psychosocial damages. These can arise during working activities that are exposed to risk factors. Has been observed the Rosacea’s arising in some occupations to register the incidence and the gravity and described the methods used for diagnosis. Materials and methods Have been included in this study 300 men, 200 women about 40/55 years old (standard deviation 4,5663, phototypes III and IV) divided in two groups: the first of 250 men and 150 women with dangerous working activities, the second (control) of 50 men, 50 women. The gravity has been estimated with clinical examination, millimetric macro photography, contact termography. The connection between occupational activity and the insurgence of Rosacea has been evaluated with tests of suspension from work. Results Rosacea has been observed in 33,5% of subjects with occupations exposed to risk and in 8% of controls. Have been evidenced the next values in the cohort study RR (relative risk) of 4,8113 and RAP% (patients that can be prevented by elimination of the risk) of 74,7619 and in the case-control OR (odd ratio) of 7,1342 and RAP% of 91,1191. The tests of suspension have pointed out positive answers in 128 cases and negative in 6 cases. Discussions and Conclusions The connection with risk factors studied and the arising of Rosacea has been confirmed in 95,52% of cases. Rosacea has pointed out a decreasing in gravity in workers employed in agricultural, preparation and preservation of aliments jobs, in fishing-men or sailors, in employed in building and to video terminal. The presence of risk factors in environment occupational could determine in worker the arising or the recrudescence of Rosacea and so make consider the first (environment) as “hill” and the second (rosacea) as “occupational disease”
