Rad ne sadrži sažetak.In this paper I will look at development of republicanism in the Easter Adriatic. To achieve proper treatment of the subject, I shall firstly look at philosophy of Niccolo Machiavelli, Italian renaissance philosopher from the city of Florence. After we achieve philosophical basis, we shall look at the three communities. First is the City of Split, second is the Community of Poljica and third is Republic of Ragusa. For all three examples there will be double check. First check will look at the legal documents of communities, such as statues and other legal acts, that will be tested against philosophy of Machiavelli. Second check will look at how the statue and the idea of republicanism have been achieved, and how they developed, in those communities. In the end I shall pass the judgement on three example that we look at in this paper
