William Faulkner is one of the best known American authors of the 20th century. In his novels, Faulkner focuses mainly on the life in the American South, a place where he was born and raised in, and the changes following the lives of some aristocratic families. One of these novels, also his first famous novel is The Sound and the Fury. This novel depicts the decline of a once famous and reputable aristocratic family, the Compsons.
