Udarni val kod podvodnog miniranja može imati negativne posljedice na životinje, poglavito ribe i morske sisavce. Važno je poznavati teorijske principe širenja i prigušenja udarnog vala pod vodom, kako bi se parametri miniranja mogli prilagoditi specifičnim uvjetima pojedinog miniranja.
