All rights reserved.The composite materials containing metal nanoparticles (MNPs) are now considered as a basis for designing new photonic media for optoelectronics and nonlinear optics. We present here a review of recent results on the nonlinear optical properties of silicate glass dielectrics with ion-synthesized copper and silver nanoparticles in the near IR spectral range. The nanocomposites prepared by the ion implantation are characterized by a growth of MNPs in a thin layer of irradiated substrate surface. The fabricated structures show specific nonlinear optical properties in the case of picosecond laser pulses.
