This article describes individual and creative reflection of Tatar folk music on the professional work of composer Rafael Belyalov. While studying publications about the composer and his creations, analyzing the compositions of the master, we have brought to light his individual and creative methods of work with the folk material and highlighted the principal features of the composer's style which demonstrate themselves in the fusion of folklore, classical music, modern compositional technologies and jazz. The creative research of the composer working with the folklore material facilitated further development and innovative renovation of Tatar national music. © IDOSI Publications, 2014
