The purpose of this study is to trace the historical significance of National Symposium on Multicultural Music in the United States in 2006 and 2008. The characteristics of this symposium are as follows. First, a lot of world music is adopted in multicultural music education even today. Secondly, it aims at a curriculum development adapted to a variety of learners. Thirdly, it tries to plan a consistent teaching strategy from kindergarten through university level. Fourthly, the multicultural music education infiltrates practice level.
