The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of justification and legitimacy of obstruction to freedom on psychological reactance. It was hypothesized that both of justification and legitimacy of obstruction to freedom might be negatively related to the strength of belief in freedom, and the latter might be positively related to the magnitude of psychological reactance (hypothesis 1). And it was also hypothesized that justification and legitimacy of obstruction to freedom might be negatively related to direct attempts at restoration of freedom (hypothesis 2). The results obtained from path-analyses supported the hypotheses completely
