The studies of a multicultural region are unique in terms of the laws of language interaction, which occur due to the parallel coexistence of several languages. The south-eastern region of the Republic of Lithuania is considered to be the one where representatives of different nationalities have been living for a long time. The article deals with the contemporary linguistic structure of Vilnius in terms of the cultural-linguistic connections, as well as indicates the main reasons of the occurrence of multilingualism on the said territory.
