The author of the article analyses the choices left for contemporary Lithuanian elite: either to leave the country for better economic life and pursue more promising personal careers in the Western countries or to stay in the country that is facing many social problems and thus offering rather modest economic welfare. It is stated that frustrating and dehumanizing experience of living in a transitional society urges members of elite groups to move away. What will the members of the elite choose?
