Leaving the memoirs of rebels of 1830–1831

Based on material found in National Polish Library and Adam Mickiewicz Museum in Paris, as well as in National Library in Warsaw and the Princes Czartoryski Library in Krakow, the author analyses written heritage of participants of mutiny in 1830-1831 in territory of former Grand Duchy of Lithuania and reveals new research directions when analysing data of authentic texts. The author in the text reveals that a remarkable part of memoir heritage in the middle of 19th century was published in a form of separate thematic collections, which were edited by Feliks Wrotnowski and Ksawery Bronikowski, as well as in a form of editorial works. The most important merits in this work are given to Association of Lithuania found on 10th of December, 1831 in Paris, by the initiative of Cezaris Pliateris and some other Lithuanian emigrants. On 5th of March, 1832, it was reorganized into Association of Lithuanian and Russian land. This association became one of the first organizations found in France by Lithuanian rebels that was oriented to cultural educative sphere. Members of this Association implemented exploratory and publishing programs, related to recalling real events that took place in years 1830-1831, in the lands of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Researches made by the author in this article have showed that in reality, the activity of the mentioned organization, as well as of the functionally close Association of Polish historians-litterateurs made a lot of influence in the atmosphere of emigrants. Writing memoirs ceased to be unitary purpose and turned into phenomenon when the description of participating in the mutiny turns out to be life depiction in which an author tries to determine his place in concrete events as well as in history itself, what has made self-perception grow in certain historical period. This statement can be confirmed by manuscript of the rebel of Ashmyany, Ignacy Klukowski, which is stored in funds of Adam Mickiewicz Museum in Paris. Manuscript in 2007 was published in original language as well as translation to Belorussian. Memoirs of Klukowski consist of not only detailed description of incidents in 1831, in districts of Ashmyany, Užneris, Dysna, Vileika as well as descriptions of ordinary life of those who participated in the mutiny. Memoirs and researches of mutiny belonging to famous participant of the mutiny and founder of press and bookshop in Paris, Eustachy Januszkiewicz, are no less important in historical context. His works were republished in Belarus in 2011. In this article the attention is also paid to manuscripts of Aleksander Rypiński, which are stored in repositories of Polish Library in Paris and in which the most important events of 1830-1831 mutiny are described. Investigation of these manuscripts has just started. Author of the article, researching manuscripts of 1830-1831 mutiny that are more or less known, provides new material that was not known before, which is by Juliusz Wysłouch, Walerian Chełhowski, Aleksander Makowski, Aleksander Pałkowski, Aleksander Antusiewicz, Stefan Niezabytowski and others
