Problems of legal regulation of firearm use in Lithuanian police

The article analyzes legal regulation of firearms use in the activities of police officers. The author examines laws, which regulate use of firearms in Lithuania. The main law which regulates usage of firearms in Lithuania is Law of Police activity of Lithuanian Republic. This law says that police officers can use firearms against persons, vehicles and animals. In the article the author raises the question for improvement of nowadays laws that to define the conditions of the use of firearms or to avoid irreversible consequences and police prosecution for their use of violence. The author also examines the use of firearm cases, the dynamics, which reveal a significant decrease in the use of a firearm.Straipsnyje analizuojamas šaunamojo ginklo panaudojimo policijos pareigūnų veikloje teisinis reguliavimas. Autorė straipsnyje nagrinėja teisės aktus, reglamentuojančius šaunamojo ginklo panaudojimą Lietuvoje. Keliamas klausimas dėl dabartinių teisės aktų tobulinimo, norint apibrėžti šaunamojo ginklo panaudojimo sąlygas, kad būtų galima išvengti negrįžtamų pasekmių bei policijos pareigūnų patraukimo baudžiamojon atsakomybėn dėl jų prievartos naudojimo, nepažeidžiant teisės aktų numatytų reikalavimų. Autorė taip pat analizuoja šaunamojo ginklo panaudojimo atvejų dinamiką, kuri atskleidžia ryškų šaunamojo ginklo panaudojimo sumažėjimą
