Verb of Joniškėlis local dialect

The article is intended to the problems of dialectal morphology. The research3 of Joniškėlis local dialect is being continued. Verb classes and peculiarities of conjugation are discussed in the article. Conclusions: 1) disyllabic verbs having short vowels u or i in their roots, have the form of simple past tense 3rd person with the ending -ė: ki. še „kišo“, su.pe „supo“; 2) if there are mixed diphthongs ar, er, il, ir and ur, the speakers of Joniškėlis subdialect pronounce the present tense form with -st- [...] 3) suffix -st- ‘struggles’ into some classes of disyllabic verbs, thus, dialect and general Lithuanian language grow apart; 4) contiguous forms of infix verbs and verbs having -st- stems have significant differences: infix verbs usually mean onetime action while verbs having -st- stems [...] 5) verbs having roots that in general Lithuanian language end in consonant d (girdi, lydi, žydi, sėdi), in Joniškėlis subdialect have different present tense 3rd person forms [...] 6) the shortening of all persons’ endings is observed in the whole system of verbs conjugation [...] 7) 1st person singular of the subjunctive mood can have three forms [...] 8) imperative mood verbs in the subdialect are used not only in usual format with -k but also without i
