Relationship between adolescents’ sexual behaviour and their psychoemotional state

The article presents parameters related to spreading of sexual relations among 11–12th form school learners in the context of psychoemotional state subjective evaluation and risk behavior. The research was carried out using the method of anonymous questionnaire-based surveying. 1035 school learners aged 16–19 (including 385 boys and 650 girls) took part in the survey. The results indicate that over one third (36.1 per cent) of the research participants have had sexual relations. The research results also reflect that sexually active adolescents more often (with statistical significance) feel unhappy, experience anger, aggression and tension at school and have thought about committing suicide, in comparison with their contemporaries who have no sexual experience. Adolescent problems (like smoking, abuse of alcohol and other narcotics, early sexual relations and poor psychoemotional states) have common roots and are interrelated; therefore, they should be solved in a complex way as a whole, and intervention measures should be related with each other
