Going wider and deeper : researches in ethnic music

According to the author's evaluation of the methodology of the world ethnomusicology it is evident that two main directions of these researches could be observed: ethnological and musicological. These two directions usually use different methodology. The researches of the ethnological direction base themselves on the empirical and theoretical methods used in all fields of scientific activity. This direction usually uses specific methods of related scientific fields. As a result, researches of the ethnological direction are more interdisciplinary. The representatives of the musicological direction of ethnomusicology put more emphasis on empirical methods. The researches of this direction have less interdisciplinary character. It is evident that further development of world ethnomusicology should be based on the wider interdisciplinary methodology
