Risk assessment in emergency management

The article presents a summarized model of management of the risk of extreme situations and a detailed analysis of the main and most complex of its phases, i. e. the evaluation of risk. The quality of the performance of the evaluation determines the efficiency of risk management. Therefore the article presents the outline of the risk evaluation methodology, separately analyzing it according to each of the five risk evaluation steps, i. e. the environment, threats, sensitivity, the phases of evaluation of potential results and the risk analysis, which combines the said results. In order to evaluate the ways the risk evaluation functions are performed in Lithuanian extreme situations management system, the questionnaire survey of specialists of different levels within the ESV system was performed.
