Research into organization intellectual capital level in companies of Lithuanian industry

The modern world is undergoing transformations and changes, the technical and technological base of production varies and a specific role is attached to intellect and the meaning of intellectual potential. All these factors make impact on the structure of the national economy, the quality of produced services and commodities and the efficiency of economy. The development of intellectual capital (IС) and its employment in production have become important factors indicating the competitive advantage of the country in the world market, export possibilities, etc., therefore recently the issues of assessment of IС level have been frequently raised. The significance of IC is obvious, however, organizations are passive and not willing to assess and measure their IC. The following problem arises: although IC is capable of overbalancing physical capital within the organization, particular measurement units of the former are extremely difficult to discover. Physical assets and IC have different characteristics specific to each of them, therefore they need to have different units of measurement. Cognizance of the necessity for measurement techniques does not mean that they have been invented. IC measurement and assessment reflect an aspect of human capital; however, there are too few quantitative methods for assessment of IC. OIC assessment model was formulated and OIC level research was performed in Lithuanian textile, food, information technologies and constructions industry companies in dissertation. It was determined that IC level in organizations of different branches varies. The highest IC level was in the companies of Lithuanian industries constructions and information technologies, the lowest one - in textile companies
