Since 1975, we have been making repeated measurements of the earth resistivity of Mt. Mihara on Oshima Volcano by the direct current method with current and potential electrodes fixed in a bipole-bipole configuration (Fig. 1). A remarkable change in the apparent resistivity was observed before and after the Izu-Hanto-Toho-Oki Earthquake of magnitude 6.7 which took place about 30 km northwest of Oshima Volcano on June 29, 1980. Measurements are being made with three pairs of electrodes with different spacings.
