The general observation system for strong motion on three-type buildings in Earthquake Research Institute has been constructed. This system consists of twelve accelerometers and a multi-channel data logger. The construction of a new building of Earthquake Research Institute was started at the end of 2004 fiscal year. The structure of the new building (Bldg. 1) was designed to be a seven-storied reinforced concrete building of pile foundation with seismic isolation system.
