The Transition of the Privately-Run Higher Education Policy in China

Since 1980s, Chinese higher education has been undergoing substantial changes through with the promotion of the strategies of the economic opening-up reform. These changes are mostly invoked by the policy reform of the higher education. In section 1, I will introduce the policy reform process in higher education and the details of the policy reform since 1980s. In section 2, I will investigate the situation of the ""private college in public university"", which is a novel type of higher education institution evolving from the higher education reform. In section 3, I will review the evolution and the present progress of the privately-run higher education policy. Finally, in section 4, I will discuss the challenges and problems still left in the privately-run higher education policy.
