The Relation between the Views on Health and the Attitudes to Their Living Conditions : upon the Investigation of the Attitudes towards Health of School Children

The subjects of this investigation were pupils and students attending primary, lower secondary and upper-secondary schools in Tokyo. The authors made an investigation into their health conditions, views on health and their attitudes to living conditions. The conclusions of this study were the following four points ; 1) There were the definite relevancy and peculiar tendency between evaluations of their schools and attitudes to them. 2) In general, two principles were seen, one was "Study First" and the other was "Health First". As for the views on health, the latter was superior to the former. In addition to that, the higher grades got, the more the number of " Study First" was. Even in the group who thought their heath conditions were not good, the ratio of "Study First" was over fifty percents. 3) Concerning the relation between those who actually did exercise and those who had interests in exercises, most of the latter did not do exercise. There was some cause to prevent their practicing exercises. 4) As for the lower secondary and the upper secondary school students, there was a tendency to think that health must bo somewhat sacrificed in order to succeed in life
