In order to analyse the influence of wind on transpiration of plant community, some series of model experiments were carried out, using cylindrical filter papers for Soxhlet extraction apparatus as evaporating surfaces. 2. Evaporation from combined evaporating surface (Curve B in Fig. 2), or model community, was far less than the multiple of evaporation from an isolated one (line A in Fig. 2). But when they were exposed to artificial wind, the evaporation from the former (Curve C in Fig. 2) got near to that of the latter. 3.
