The bending properties of 12 kinds of wood and 3 kinds of wood-based materials at -196℃ were examined. The effect of moisture content was investigated on spruce wood, and compared with that at temperatures above -180℃. The results are summarised as follows: (1) MOE and MOR at -196℃ for woods were on average 1.6 times and 2 times as much as that at 20℃, respectively. (2) For wood-based materials, MOE and MOR at -196℃ were 1.8 times and 1.4 times as much as that at 20℃, respectively.
