Bienestar espiritual de los cuidadores familiares de niños que viven enfermedad crónica

The purpose of this study was to describe the level of spiritual wellbeing in family caregivers living with childeren thata have chronic diseases. This is a descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional type study, which used the spiritual wellbeing scale as described by Ellison. The finding allowed to identigy the level of spiritual wellbeing, which reached a mean of 39 given by 75% of caregivers with a value of 48 and 25% of those obtained a value of 31. This, according to Ellison's scale, is both representative and valuable since caregivers keep a high level of spirituality. The frequency of spirituality related issues got a value of 13 in this study with 70 participanting caregivers. Conclusions allowed to dientify the level os spiritual wellbeing of those caregivers in children with chronic diseases in the Jorge Bejarano Children's Hospital, belonging to the National Social Health Insurance Institute (ISS) in Colombia. This level of spirituality should be promoted, kept and strengthened via valuation and identification of spiritual needs.Objetivo: Describir el grado de bienestar espirirual de los cuidadores familiares de niños con enfermedades crónicas. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo de tipo cuantitativo transversal. Se utilizó una muestra de 60 cuidadores familiares de niños que padecían una enfermedad crónica, a quienes se les aplicó la escala de bienestar espiritual descrita por Ellison. Resultados: El estudio permite identificar: El grado de bienestar espiritual, que alcanza en el estudio una mediana de 39, dada por un 75% de cuidadores (que obtuvieron un valor de 48) y por un 25% (que obtuvieron un valor de 31), según la escala de Ellison. Es representativo y valioso que los cuidadores mantengan alta su espiritualidad. La frecuencia de la espiritualidad en el estudio se encuentra en valor de 13., para el estudio y para los sesenta cuidadores que participaron en la investigación. Conclusiones: La escala permite identificar el grado de bienestar espiritual de los cuidadores familiares de niños con enfermedades crónicas de la Clínica del Niño Jorge Bejarano ISS. De esta forma se puede afirmar que se deben fomentar, mantener y fortalecer las necesidades espirituales, mediante su valoración e identificación.
