Temporomandibular disorders and neck pain in musicos instrumentalists : systematic review

Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação)—Universidade de Brasília, Faculdade de Ceilândia, Curso de Fisioterapia, 2015.Introdução: A prática instrumental por tempo prolongado, o alto grau de desempenho exigido, a rigorosa técnica individual e o formato específico de cada instrumento musical podem levar os profissionais, a muitas vezes, ultrapassarem seu limite fisiológico, conferindo uma alta prevalência de lesões musculoesqueléticas em músicos. Objetivo: O objetivo desse presente estudo foi investigar a prevalência de distúrbio temporomandibular e de cervicalgia em músicos. Métodos: Entre agosto e setembro 2015 foram examinadas cinco bases de dados: LILACS, SciELO, MedLine/PubMed, Scopus e Web of Science. Os artigos foram lidos e avaliados pelos critérios do Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE), artigos que obtiveram um percentual acima de 50% foram considerados na análise do presente trabalho. Resultados: Atenderam aos critérios de inclusão nesse estudo 15 artigos. Dentre todos os músicos a prevalência de dor na ATM variou de 10-81% e a prevalência de cervicalgia variou de 29-80%. Conclusão: No presente estudo pôde-se verificar que os músicos apresentam tanto DTM quanto cervicalgias, observando uma alta prevalência em especial os músicos intérpretes de instrumentos de corda friccionada e de instrumentos de sopro. Os fatores de risco identificados na literatura para o surgimento de sintomas dolorosos em músicos são: características físicas e a postura determinada pelo instrumento, o mobiliário, a organização do trabalho e relações de emprego.Introduction: The instrumental practice for a long time, the high level of performance required, strict individual technique and the specific format of each musical instrument can lead professionals, often exceeding their physiological limit, giving a high prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries in musicians. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of temporomandibular disorder and neck pain in musicians. Methods: Between August and September 2015 were reviewed five databases: LILACS, SciELO, Medline / PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. The articles were read and evaluated by the criteria of the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE), items obtained a percentage above 50% were considered in the analysis of this work. Results. It was included in this study 15 articles. Among all the musicians the prevalence of TMJ pain ranged from 10-81% and the prevalence of neck pain ranged from 29-80%. Conclusion: In the present study it can be seen that the musicians have both TMD as neck pain, watching a high prevalence especially interpreters musicians of bowed string instruments and wind instruments. The risk factors identified in the literature for the emergence of painful symptoms in musicians are: physical characteristics and the determined stance by the instrument, the furniture, the organization of labor and employment relations
