Fruit growing offers many advantages to the farmer of the intermountain west, chief of which is the high return possible from a relatively small farm. Few crops will give as high an acre-yield or return as a properly located and managed orchard. Acre-yields of from 500 to 800 bushels of apples, pears, or peaches are not unusual.
